The book launch of Bangkok Noir brought together a great number of Thai and Western writers who shared their involvement in this project and their understanding of ‘noir.’ Here’s a selection of some of the picture I made. (Click on the pics to enlarge.)
Pol. Gen. Vasit Dejkunjorn, National Artist in Literature (1998), and Christopher G. Moore, author of 12 Vincent Calvino PI novels, giving autographs.
John Burdett, author of Bangkok 8, and Tew Bunnag, a volunteer worker in the slums of Klongtoey – Bangkok.
Vasit Dejkunjorn, author of over 30 novels, Christopher G. Moore, editor of Bangkok Noir, and Collin Piprell, fiction and non-fiction writer based in Bangkok.
English writer John Burdett and Thai author Vasit Dejkunjorn chit chatting with the audience.
Some of the authors of Bangkok Noir interacting with their readers.
Listening to the audience’s questions…
C.G. Morre and Collin Piprell signing books.
Tew Bunnag‘s (standing) fiction deals with the tensions between the traditional and the modern contradictions in present Thai society.
The book launch of Bangkok Noir was an event attended by around 50 book lovers.
Maybe, an author’s greatest satisfaction is meeting his readership.
Colin Cotterill was there too, in the shape of a life-size cardboard cartoon.
Dean Barret, author of Skytrain to Murder, approached by his readers.
“Hm… Where did everybody go?” wondered Colin Cotterill.
Bangkok Noir (2011) was published by Heaven Lake Press. Check out the book’s website here.
