ISSF World Cup Final, Rifle & Pistol – Bangkok, Thailand

This year, the World Cup Final for Rifle and Pistol will take place at the Shooting Range of Bangkok located within Hua Mark Sports Complex. The event lasts for one week, between October 22-28, 2012, and is organized by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) in collaboration with the National Shooting Sport Association of Thailand (Under Royal Patronage).

A total number of 35 nations will send 94 athletes to compete in 110 events. They will shoot at 50m, 25m and 10m in rifle and pistol competitions. The events are divided in Junior, Men, and Women and all will soot an individual qualification score to determine their seeding. Team rankings will also be established. At the end of each competing day, the finals for the day’s events will take place, with the champions’ trophy to be awarded on the last day of the competition on Saturday, October 27.

Thailand will be represented by PRUCKSAKORN Tanyaporn (22-year-old, born in Dallas, Texas) in the 10m Air Pistol Women event and by YANGPAIBOON Naphaswan (24-year-old, born in Chiang Mai) in the 25 Pistol Women event.

Just one Romanian shooter will take place in the World Cup Final. He is MOLDOVEANU Alin George, the gold medalist in the 10m Air Rifle event at the London Olympics 2012. It’s worth mentioning that Alin George came 4th at the Beijing Olympics 2008. He was born in 1983 in Focsani, Romania, and is currently shooting for CS Dinamo Bucharest.

Last year’s World Cup Final men’s gold medalists were from Norway (50m rifle), Bulgaria (50m rifle prone), China (10m air rifle), Serbia (50m pistol), Germany (25m rapid fire pistol), and Russia (10m air pistol). The Women’s gold medalists were from Germany (50m rifle), China (10m air rifle), Czech Republic (25m pistol), and Ukraine (10m air pistol). In 2011, the World Cup Final was held in Wroclaw, Poland.

Ever since 1980, the headquarters of the ISSF has been located in Munich, Germany, and the organization has been active since 1907. Thailand has already hosted a score of international shooting competitions, such as such as the 2007 Universade, the 2007 World Cup Stage, and the 2004, 2007 and 2008 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Finals.

We wish all shooters good luck!
