Thailand is a tropical country and this means that it’s, in one word, hot.
Although officially Thailand has 3 seasons, rainy (May to September), cool (October to February) and dry (March to April), unofficially it’s got only one. That’s the hot season.
Just to give you an idea of how hot (or cold) it can be in Thailand, consider that the average low temperature throughout the year is 22 degrees Celsius in December while the average high temperature is 36 degrees Celsius in April. (It’s also true that, in recent years, global warming has brought to Thailand some freakishly low and high temperature extremes…)
So how do people stay cool during all this heat? They have many cold drinks. And what’s in these cold drinks? Ice! And how do they transport ice?
