8 facts about the Oriental Whipsnake

Here are 8 facts about the Oriental Whipsnake:

1. This thin, green snake is commonly known as the Oriental Whipsnake or Asian Vine snake.

2. Its scientific name is Ahaetulla prasina.

3. In Thai, it is called “ngoo kee-ow hoo-uh jing joke pa.”

4. Although it’s a venomous snake, it’s not considered dangerous to humans due to the venom’s weak toxicity.

5. It is a species of tree snake found in South and Southeast Asia .

6. It feeds on small reptiles and amphibians, especially lizards and tree frogs.

7. Adults may reach 1.8 m (6 feet) in total length, with a tail .6 m (2 feet) long.

8. The Oriental Whipsnake comes in bright green, brown or yellow colours.
