People wear costumes for different occasions, for example on holidays (such as Halloween) or at certain events (like a party). People also dress up in different costumes for different reasons. There are many children’s books on the market that could inspire costumes for children and even adults. Here are 5 popular children’s books that inspire costumes.
1. Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland is a very popular fairytale. It is about the various adventures of a girl and her activities with a number of different characters. Since the book has a lot of characters, it makes for a great costume party. Of course, the most popular character or costume would be Alice but almost any character can make for a nice costume.
2. Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood is a children’s book about a girl who walked through the woods to take food to her sick grandmother. While wandering through the woods she ended up facing danger when she came across a wolf. The costumes that can be worn from this children’s book are the red cape that the girl wore, a wolf’s costume and a costume to look like the sickly grandmother.
3. Cinderella
Cinderella is about a poor girl who is treated unfairly by her stepmother and stepsisters. The prince in the book is to choose one of the sisters to dance with but ends up choosing the poor and unfairly treated Cinderella. A very popular fairy tale and choice for costumes, many girls and women choose to dress up as Cinderella. Of course, the prince costume will be fit for the guys. Most costumes designed are for Cinderella; however, you may be able to find costumes for the stepmother and stepsisters if you dare to.
4. Cat in the Hat
Cat in the Hat is about a cat that likes to get in trouble and, on a rainy day, visits a house where a brother and sister are at home all by themselves. He entertains them with riddles and antics that are obviously irritating to the other pets in the house. The Cat in the Hat costume is very popular among both males and females.
5. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of the most popular fairytales around. Similar to Cinderella, the story is about a girl who lives with a wicked stepmother who seeks to take over Snow White’s parents’ estate. The wicked stepmother is also jealous of the beautiful Snow White, so she plots her demise after the mirror tells her that she is no longer the fairest of them all. Forced in the woods, Snow White finds comfort and friendship in seven dwarfs, all with different personalities. There are a lot of costumes associated with this fairytale – probably the most out of all fairy tales — because not only is Snow White well-known to the public but so are the dwarfs. In fact, the dwarfs are probably just as popular as the main character, Snow White. Because of all the popular characters in this fairytale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a winner when it comes to costumes and costume parties.
